Birth Photography | Jacksonville Shands Hospital
I received the call about 8:30 pm that it was time. I’ve never scurried so fast in my life. I felt like I was back on call in my flight attendant days when I’d be on reserve and I had BETTER be at the airport within an hour OR ELSE. By the time that I had reached Amanda and Cade, they were somewhat settled in a hospital bed at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. This was also my first time meeting and seeing a doula in action and I must tell you before I go any further. This woman was amazing. Vonda Bartlett from Doulananda Birth Services was Amanda’s doula for the night and for a day and a half, she and I bonded over coffee, breakfast, lunch, and I think there was a dinner somewhere in there. lol Amanda labored for almost 48 hours and she was more than just a trooper. She’s an inspiration. She and Cade both are. I remember the euphoria I felt after having my own daughter and watching it from a different perspective made me even more intrigued and fascinated by the miracle of birth. It brought everyone in the room together and the love that you’ll get to see between Amanda and Cade was indescribable.
I don’t need to tell you more because you’ll get to see it for yourself. Thank you again to this sweet family for letting me be present for one of the most exciting experiences of your life.
