If there is one thing I crave more of as I get older, I would have to say it’s more heart connection. You know, we can talk to any old joe about the weather today or how strong or weak our coffee was yesterday BUT it’s rare to find that person, you can talk to about ANYTHING. When I say anything, I mean everything from politics to Jesus and you don’t feel threatened or judged for your way of thought. Dorothy has been that friend to me since college. I was at her doorstep crying through college about personal issues I faced and she was right back at mine. There was always an ebb and flow to our friendship and as time went on, we lost touch more so because of the direction our paths took and the way it all sped up exponentially for us individually. She recently surprised me for a visit during spring break and I don’t think we ever stopped talking for 2 days straight. I think my kids were more exhausted from hearing us talk than from running around from this place to that but we needed it. For me, it was healing. For me, it was humbling. For us, it was the friendship we had built over time that left off right where it began.
“Dorothy”- a gift of God
